On a rainy Tuesday in Paris, Chanel designer Virginie Viard revealed a light, warm-weather collection that featured a colorful lineup of asymmetrical shapes and models wearing flip-flops and thick-framed spectacles.
The audience, which included Penelope Cruz, Usher, and Jennie Kim of Blackpink, sat in box-like rooms with big windows and life-size images of the French Riviera’s scrub-covered slopes.
The models paraded tweed skirt sets with uneven hems, patchwork ensembles, and light dresses that trailed down in the back as they moved through the expanse of the Grand Palais Ephemere exposition hall in the heart of Paris.
A bikini was worn with a cape, comfortable jeans were dressed up with a skinny, rhinestone belt and a tweed jacket, and dress sleeves were cut open to cover shoulders in a cape-like manner, all of which contributed to the collection’s casual air.
The show concluded a season of runway presentations that also included stops in New York, London, and Milan on the final day of Paris Fashion Week, which drew large audiences of industry press and celebrities to the French city.
