The New York Film Critics Circle has declared “Killers of the Flower Moon” by Martin Scorsese to be the greatest movie of the year.

It’s the third time that Scorsese has won best film from the critics in his hometown, who voted “GoodFellas” from 1990 and “The Irishman” from 2019 as their favorite films. Lily Gladstone, who co-stars with Leonardo DiCaprio in “Killers of the Flower Moon,” was also named best actress by the group on Thursday.
Based on David Grann’s nonfiction bestseller, “Killers of the Flower Moon,” an Apple Studios production worth $200 million, tells the story of the 1920s Osage murders.
Christopher Nolan’s popular drama “Oppenheimer,” which tells the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer and the Manhattan Project, won multiple accolades, including best director for Nolan and best cinematography for Hoyte van Hoytema.
The nation’s oldest critics’ organization was established in 1935 and is called the New York Film Critics Circle. The awards will be presented on January 3 during a dinner. The critics voted Todd Field’s “Tár” the best movie of 2022 last year.
