Seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton He is as big a celebrity off the road as he is on the right track. Music, fashion and, more recently, film are ventures that Hamilton has been a part of. The British received criticism for these “extracurricular” activities, and addressed them in a recent interview.
Lewis Hamilton joined the F1 grid in 2007 as the only black driver, but has grown significantly, exploring and finding his interests in the art world. The Brit has been seen at the Met Gala several times, is involved with the team’s apparel and enters the paddock in some of the most iconic outfits.
Hamilton has also ventured into the world of music and appeared on Christina Aguilera’s song Pipe under the name XNDA. The seven-time F1 champion was also one of the producers of the hit film F1 Movie with Brad Pitt and Damson Idris, and was reportedly involved in making the on-track action as realistic as possible.

However, many have come out and detailed these off-piste activities and ventures as a distraction. Lewis Hamilton recently sat down with ferrari for an interview and was asked to respond to those who suggested that extracurricular activities were a distraction.
“It’s not a question of distraction. Everyone can be distracted, in one way or another. It’s about how you decide to deploy your energy and create a sense of balance. You have to have a creative balance, you can’t just work every hour of your life because you will be miserable. How do you find things that inspire you and keep you encouraged? Harnessing your creativity is one way,” answers Lewis Hamilton.
Kym Illman shares her thoughts on Lewis Hamilton ‘loving all these other things’ following Ferrari move
Lewis Hamilton made the move mercedes to Ferrari for the 2025 season. Kym Illman suggested that Hamilton’s first photo in front of the Maranello factory detailed how Ferrari wasn’t just about racing.
Kym Illman came out over the summer break on Cameron CC’s YouTube channel and opened up about Hamilton’s struggles at SF25. Detailing how Ferrari’s move was more than just a race, he said:
“Hamilton went to Ferrari with so many things, the amount of money they were paying him, the Lewis Hamilton brand, and the minute, the millisecond that we saw him in that black suit next to the F40, it was pretty clear that he wasn’t going there to microscopically focus on just being a racing driver again. He loved all those other things or did all those other things.”
The F1 photographer also questioned how Fred Vasseur allowed this to happen when the Scuderia failed to return to winning ways.
