Scottie Scheffler makes his own PGA Tour history on Sunday at Pebble Beach

Scottie Scheffler goes full Scottie Scheffler on Sunday at Pebble Beach.

The world number one recorded a 63 to sit at 20 under par for the tournament. Coming off the 18th hole at Pebble, arguably the most beautiful finishing hole in all of golf, he was tied for the tournament lead, although with so many players left in the field, he figured he wouldn’t stay standing for long. You never knew it at the time of writing this article.

However, there was something particularly notable about that outing of 18. Scottie recorded an eagle on the 18th to take him to 20 under par and what was even more notable was that it was his third eagle of the day.

Scheffler found the big bird on 2, 6 and 18 while at Pebble on Sunday. Dropping eagles on 3 of the 4 par 5s is a great way to have a chance to hit.

What was notable about this for Scottie is that, as Jim Nantz noted on the CBS broadcast, it was the first time in his PGA Tour career that he recorded 3 eagles in a round.

Very good time for this to happen!
