The third round of Santa Clara-Friday Night ended, the 49ers owned the third selection, and the most notorious field marshal of this draft was still noticeable.
Sheodeur Sanders, son of the 1994 Super Bowl champion of 49ers, Deion Sanders, would not be selected or rescued by the 49ers in selection No. 100.
Instead, Western Kentucky’s corner, Upton Stout, was the 49ers selection, and the descending slide of the Sanders resumed.
Stout, seen by the 49ers as a nickel Fiesty, was the fourth task of defensive players in so many selections of the 49ers this draft, following Defensive end Mykel Williams (First round, No. 11 in general), the defensive Tackle Alfred Collins (second round, No. 43) and Nick Martin supporter (No. 75).
“I told John (Lynch) that it was the first day I exhaled from free agency,” said coach Kyle Shanahan. “You lose many boys two months ago, a month ago. You come to work, you look at your board, and there are many empty points. You are in the draft, you don’t know how it will come out.
“We add some competition and hope to add more tomorrow,” Shanahan added. “But it was definitely a good feeling to add some boys, because we solve more than ever before.”
Stout made a previous visit to the Draft to the 49ers and was in love with the energy of the coaches, stating: “I was excited. When I made my visit, I knew that this was the place for me, with all the players they had and all the dogs.”
The 49ers explorer studied Stout, Warren Ball, transmitted that Stout had “the heart of a lion.”
“When I am on the nickel, he shows who I am,” Stout said, and added that defending the race is “part of my game, I like to get dirty.”
His plan is to insert Stout as nickel and allow Deommore Lenoir to remain an external corner, probably with Renardo Green in the other place.
As for Quarterback, Brock Purdy’s backup copies in the 49ers remain Mac Jones and Tanner Mordecai. Purdy, or course, is retired three years after being the 262 and end of the 2022 draft.
Five quartbacks have been recruited for two days, including Jalen Milroe (Seattle Seahawks, No. 92) and Dillon Gabriel (Cleveland Browns, No. 94) in the third round.
The final selection of the 49ers on Friday night occurred after the consecutive selections of the Raiders of offensive linens, Caelb Rogers and Charles Grant.
“This was a great weekend for our organization. We love our nucleus of boys, but there are many opportunities on this list,” Lynch said. “There is also a lot of need to infuse some young youth and quality players. This draft, we feel that this was the case, there would be many quality holders on day 2 and 3. This is how it develops. We still have a lot of work to do.”
