The designated batter of parents, Luis Arraáz, had to be placed on a stretcher and detached from the field after he crashed with the second base man of the stars, Mauricio Dubón, who had his leg covering the second base killing the upper part of the first Bunt attempt.
Arraáz was able to move his limbs, but the nature of his injury was not immediately clear.
In a parents’ statement, the team said Arraáz was transported to the Houston Methodist hospital to be evaluated.
“It is currently stable, conscious, receptive and capable of moving its limbs,” the team said.
The worrying incident occurred after Arraáz left the touch and carried the first base.
The Astros First Baseeman Christian Walker played the ball and overturned it to Dubón, but when Houston’s second base went to step on the bag, he seemed to enter the path of Arraáz and the two joined with the parents DH immediately wrinkling the ground.
The coach of the first base of San Diego, Dave Macias, quickly went to Arraáz to see it, like Dubón, before parents’ coaches left the refuge to evaluate the situation.
A slow repetition of the work showed that Arraáz’s head had contacted Dubón’s forearm.
Several parents players reached where Arraáz was down and tok a knee and Dubón remained by his side until he was taken off the field.
Arraáz seemed to give a thumb up, since it was being tasks off the field.
The game was delayed 15 minutes due to the injury.
Arraáz had entered Sunday’s game with an average bat of .287, three homers and seven races promoted in the season.
