Legendary Bears Defensive Lineman Steve McMichael Dead at 67

Steve McMichael, one of the biggest and most memorable players of the legendary 1985 defense of the Bears, died at age 67.

Jarrett Payton, son of the legend of the Bears Walter Payton and the man who presented McMichael for his consequence of the Hall of Fame, made the announcement on Wednesday.

I thought McMichael would win a Super Bowl championship and have a long career in the Hall of Fame, its beginnings were not auspicious. New England patriots selected him in the third round of the 1980 NFL draft, but the PATS cut it the following year. The Bears signed it before the start of the 1981 season, and McMichael played for Chicago over the next 12 years.

The pinnacle of McMicale’s success with the Bears occurred in 1985, when he took revenge on the team that cut him by helping Chicago to trample New England 46-10 in the Super Bowl XX.

“McMichael was All-Pro, twice, twice second All-Pro information.

He finished his career with the Packers in 1994.

McMichael totaled 95 captures and 847 cup on his 15 -year career.
