Grassley warns Putin is ‘playing America as a patsy’

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IIWA) urged President Trump on Friday to hit Russia with “the most difficult sanctions”, arguing that Vladimir Putin It is “interpreting the United States as a Patsy.”

“I have seen enough to kill or innocent Ukrainian women + children,” Grassley wrote in x.

“President Trump PLS put the most difficult Putin sanctions,” added the senator. “You should make clear evidence that he is playing the United States as a Patsy.”

The White House did not immediately respond to the request for comments from the post.

Grassley, President Pro Tempore of the Senate and president of the Judicial Committee of the Senate, registered his tweet one day after Russian military Abused the capital of Ukraine or Kyiv with a Drones and ballistic missile bombardment.

The attack, the deadliest in kyiv in almost a year, killed 12 people and left almost 90.

In a separate position, Trump argued that Zensky “boast” about his refusal to recognize Crimea as Russian territory “will do nothing more to prolong” war.

A bipartisan group of more than 50 senators, including Grassley, Backed legislation presented by Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) Earlier this month, that would implement sanctions against Russia and “the actors that support the aggression of Russia if the country refuses to participate in negotiations in good faith for lasting peace with undermining the sovereignty of Ukraine

The legislation also seeks to impose a 500% rate on the imported goods from countries that buy oil, gas, uranium and other Russian products.

“The 2025 Russian sanctions law will issue decisive concepts aimed at deterring Russian aggression,” Cramer said in a statement. “This bill sends a clear message: thugs have a price to pay for their actions. Vladimir Putin and Russia must face serious consequences for their destructive war and not caused against Ukraine.”
