Gus Garcia-Roberts Joins ProPublica as National Reporter — ProPublica

Propublic announced Thursday that Gus García-Roberts has been hired as a national reporter.

García-Roberts arrives in Propublic from the Washington Post, where he published research on the Overdose Death of Los Angeles Tyler Skaggs; The accusations of sexual abuse against the Dodgers of Los Angeles, Trevor Bauer, and Major League Baseball’s secret system to examine domestic abuse and sexual aggression; and How the NFL has failed in hiring black coachesPart of a series that the main sports editors of Associated Press for the projects and the prize of the online journalism awards in excellence in Sports reports.

Before joining the publication, García-Roberts worked in research teams in Newsday, Los Angeles Times and USA Today. In Newsday, he was part of the team whose series on hidden police behavior was a finalist of the Pulitzer Award for Public Service. He is the author of “Jimmy The King: Murder, Vice, and the reign of a dirty police” and the “Blood Sport: Alex Rodríguez, biogenesis and the search to end the era of baseball steroids”.

“We are very excited to welcome Gus and their enviable reports and writing skills to Propublic and excited to convert the propublic lens into the world of sports,” said Editor Manager Tracy Weber. “Stay tuned.”
