The 800M Olympic champion established his national record of 1: 54.61 in the British capital last year
Keely Hodgkinson has retired from the London Diamond League and delayed its seasonal opening for a few more weeks to make sure it is fully ready for races.
The 23 -year -old was aimed at starting her outdoor season in the Stockholm Diamond League last month, but had to retire after suffering a new setback in her recovery of an injury to the hamstrings.
The 800M Olympic champion suffered that injury just before his own event, the Koley Klassic, in February and has not run since he assured gold in the games last summer.
Hodgkinson is now back in complete training and is progressing quickly, with the aim of overcoming the 800-meter stage in the World Athletics Championship in Tokyo (September 13-21).

In the London Diamond League last year, Hodgkinson established a British or 1: 54.61 record to go sixth on the global 800m list of all time, ending ahead of Jemma Reekie (1: 55.61) and Georgia Hunter Bell (1: 56.28).
That brand was also the fastest moment in 800m since Casteter Semenya registered 1: 54.60 in Monaco in 2018.
Hodgkinson, of course, supported his national record with an Olympic gold medal in two laps in Paris. Later in the year, it was crowned sports personality of the BBC of the year and became the first person of athletics from Mo Farah in 2017 to claim the prize.
Two months ago, the British received a MBE, for Athletics Services, Prince William in Windsor Castle.
