WWE may be planning to break a major rule of their own, for John Cena’s final match. For Gunther fans, this may be bad news.

Gunther will reportedly be the star to face. John Cena in his retirement match at the Saturday Night Main Event in December. In the fight, Cena will conclude his iconic career and finally hang up his boots, fully committing to the world of Hollywood. However, the farewell wwe may come at the expense of his supposed opponent in Gunther.

Dave Meltzer reported on the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there is an expectation that Cena will defeat Gunther to win his last match. Since a win would help the Ring General’s career immensely, this may be horrible news for him.

“Generally speaking, whether it’s Ric Flair, Dave Bautista, Kurt Angle or more recently Bill Goldberg, guys who think they’re retiring lose in their last match. But Cena is treated differently than most others and these are different circumstances.”

He added that the fact that Gunther was a foreigner could further contribute to his potential loss in the upcoming event.

John Cena vs Gunther would be an iconic way to end his career

Gunther is seen as one of the biggest stars in WWE today and is considered by many to be the future. A match against John Cena to retire him could be the most important match he has had so far in his career.

However, a loss here could have the opposite effect and hinder his career rather than help it. It should be noted that the star also recently lost his world title to CM Punk, so two consecutive losses would not be good for him.

On the other hand, it could be the fire you need to enter. WrestleMania season with the need to prove his worth.
