comedian Becky RobinsonHer career is really starting to take off, thanks to a wig, a golf outfit from her mother’s closet and what she calls “a manic episode of improv” she filmed and posted to social media at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Robinson spoke with Fox News Digital in October about her new special, “Entitled,” and the inspiration behind her viral comedy character, “Entitled Housewife,” an uninhibited, foul-mouthed parody of country club culture and wine mothers. The character exploded on social media during the pandemic and helped Robinson build a legion of fans.
“The first time I found the character was improvising, when my parents left home and I said, ‘Scott, where is the Sauvy B?’ “I started yelling at this fake husband, like my mother would yell at my father if she was upset,” she told Fox News.

One of Robinson’s first. Videos of “Qualified Housewife”posted on YouTube in 2020, it shows the character trying, unsuccessfully, to get his SUV out of the driveway to get to a “country club lunch.”
Wearing a huge golf visor, oversized sunglasses, and AirPods, he yells at his imaginary son, Dashiell, to move his toy car.
“Dashiell, move your damn wagon! I’m already 15 minutes late for the country club lunch! I don’t have time for this.” She gets out anyway, the sound of the car creaking under the weight of the car can be heard in the background.
“Pup, that’s your loss. You could have moved it a little faster, okay? Mommy has things to do.”
From the first video, Robinson had developed an entire fictional family that “Housewife” could yell at.
“And it was that first day that I started yelling at Scott, and the kids, Dashiell and Maccabee, and my best friend Trish, and her two other friends, Jackie and Margo, who are like her foursome that she plays golf with,” Robinson said. “His universe was built on that, dare I say, manic episode of improvisation.”
When asked where the inspiration for the character came from, Robinson pointed to his parents and a lot of downtime during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I grew up outside of Portland, Oregon, and I came home during the pandemic and I was with my parents and they were like they were having the time of their lives. My dad said, ‘Golf is all we have. This is great. This is great. The country club is still open.’ And my mom has had a lot of health problems. She had a brain tumor and breast cancer. And so when the pandemic hit, she was finally healthy. And she was like, ‘This is the time I’m supposed to go out and have White Claws with the girls.'”
“And I sat there and looked at them. It was like, ‘Oh my God, you guys are crazy,'” he continued. “And I just put on a wig, went into his closet and found a skort, a polo, a visor and my dad’s Oakleys and, of course, the AirPods. And I started improvising.”

The comedian told Fox News Digital that she wasn’t thinking about what “Entitled Housewife” could do for her career; he just wanted to make himself laugh during the lowest moments of the pandemic.
“And that was the first time I’d laughed in a long time. So, it was like maybe I’d make someone else laugh. And I posted the first video and it just blew up. I had no idea. I thought it was going to be like anything else.”
Robinson recalled how the video even caught the attention of A-list celebrities.
“All these celebrities started texting me. Chris Pratt It was like, ‘I have to play your husband if you’re going to make a movie out of this.’ And some of the women, Wendy McClendon Covey, who I’ve admired for years, said to me, ‘Yeah, if you’re making a movie, I’m in.’ “And it opened so many doors for me and I’ve met so many incredible women.”
Hundreds of videos and millions of views later, “Entitled Housewife” has become a household name and a co-star on Robinson’s ongoing “Member’s Only” tour. The special, filmed during the tour’s Boston stop in April, is divided into two parts: one with Robinson as herself and the other with the character.
“It’s half of me doing stand-up as myself,” Robinson explained, describing the first half of the set. She said that the first part is about her “just making fun of everyday life about the things we say, ‘Oh, this isn’t quite right,'” and making jokes about being a “modern woman.”
Describing the second act, he said: “Then the character ‘Entitled Housewife’ arrives at the theater, arriving late as always, breaks down the door, goes on stage and does this big epic performance. At that point, the special turns into what seems like a big party.”
“We’re trying to get people to ruin a pair of pants, hopefully,” Robinson added.
In addition to the antics on stage, including what looked like a dance number, the audience also made an impression. Many of the women appeared with visors, sunglasses and tennis skorts in homage to the character.
“Yes, we have a cult,” Robinson said, acknowledging his die-hard fans.
Recalling when fans started showing up in costumes, he said, “Yeah, the first show of the tour, kind of at the end of the pandemic, our first show back, they just descended inside, just visors; everyone came to us. People brought pickleball rackets and sticks and paddles. And yeah, from the beginning, everyone dressed up.”

Robinson’s connection with his female fans is so important that this month he will host his first annual golf tournament in Tulum, Mexico: the “Housewife Classic.”
“We found this epic course, the PGA Riviera Maya in Tulum, and the Conrad Hotel right across the street,” Robinson said. “I’m hosting over 100 people over the weekend and we have a lot of brands on board.”
“I want a whole weekend with them,” he said of the fans. “One night isn’t enough. It’s like, let’s do a whole week. So I’m going to do a show while we’re there too. And two days as a kind of golf tournament.”
The tournament is open to the first 100 fans who purchase tickets, he said, and includes many additional benefits.
“Oh, and I’ve also hired men Chippendales be the drink cart drivers, because you don’t see that in the game of golf. No, they’re always very attractive women, so I thought, ‘Let’s get some.'”
