On the other hand, the competition was more balanced on the women’s side. There were four different winners in the Majors and Aryna Sabalenka managed to stay in first place in the WTA rankings.

As we prepare for another exciting season in 2025, let’s look at the best games of the year and some incredible stories from the year.

Madison Keys has been a top contender on the women’s tour for almost a decade. Despite having given everything in recent years, he was unable to make a significant impact in the Major Leagues.

In 2025, Keys shocked the tennis fraternity by winning the Australian Open. Not only did she defeat Iga Swiatek in the semi-final but she also beat Aryna Sabalenka to lift the title.

The American had to work hard to win her first title in Melbourne. After passing Elena Rybakina and Elina Svitolina In the early rounds she showed her class by defeating Iga Swiatek, 5-7, 6-1, 7-6 (8).

Many believe Keys’ close victory against Swiatek made the difference and set her up for another three-set victory against Sabalenka. He defeated five seeds en route to his first major title in Melbourne.

4) Coco Gauff vs. Aryna Sabalenka – French Open – 2025

Tennis fever then moved to the clay courts of Paris. Keys’ victory at the Australian Open inspired the underdogs to claim the title. However, winning the French Open meant stopping Iga Swiatek’s three-year unbeaten streak in Paris.

Aryna Sabalenka seemed to be flying high with successful runs in Miami and Madrid ahead of the French Open. She was the top seed and a heavy favorite to secure the crown at the clay-court major.

With all the attention on Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff quietly found her groove with finishes in Madrid and Rome. He continued his rich run of form at the French Open and reached the final.

Sabalenka may have done her a favor by defeating Iga Swiatek in the semi-final, but Gauff made no mistake against the Belarusian in the final. Despite losing the first set against Sabalenka, she staged a brilliant comeback and stole the show to win the 2025 French Open, 6-7 (5), 6-2, 6-4.

The fight for glory has also intensified on the men’s side at Roland Garros this year. Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner shared the honors in every major event in 2024, with Sinner presiding over that statistic by defending his title in Melbourne.

Alcaraz showed his intention to recover with successful races in Rotterdam, Monte Carlo and Rome. He then defeated Sinner in the Italian Open final and also humiliated the top seed to regain his French Open title.

The duo battled for five hours and 29 minutes in one of the best matches in tennis history this year. Alcaraz saved three match points in the fourth set, saved eight break points and beat Sinner, 4-6, 6-7(4), 6-4, 7-6(3), 7-6(2).

Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek won their first title at the Wimbledon Championships this year. Krejcikova was the defending champion on the women’s side, but was unable to make a difference due to lack of fitness and was eliminated in the third round.

Let’s go to the 2025 US Open, where once again there were no clear favorites to win the title. One of the stories of this year’s event was Taylor Townsend’s incredible run to the fourth round.

The American began her campaign with sensational victories over Antonia Ruzic and Jelena Ostapenko in the early rounds. She then stunned fifth seed Mirra Andreeva in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2.

Townsend appeared to be on track to make her first quarterfinal appearance, but Krejcikova edged her out 1-6, 7-6 (13), 6-3. The Czech’s performance broke the hearts of Americans and demonstrated her enormous resilience to stay alive in New York. His career eventually ended Jessica Pegula in the quarterfinals.

Alexander Bublik’s rise to the top 15 was one of the most incredible stories of this year. After the first departures in Melbourne, Rotterdam, Dubai, Doha, indian wellsand Miami, the Kazakh flipped the switch to reach the quarterfinals of the French Open for the first time in his career.

Bublik created plenty of moments that could make him highlights in 2025, but his victory over Jack Draper in the French Open quarterfinals was pretty special. Despite losing the first set against an in-form Draper, he defeated the Brit in four sets, 5-7, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4.

Bublik not only ended Draper’s brilliant start to the season, but also set himself up for more success in 2025. He continued his rich run of grass form by defeating Jannik Sinner in Halle and also achieved success in Gstaad, Kitzbuhel and Hangzhou this year.
