“Greenland 2: Migration“, the long-awaited sequel to the 2020 cosmic disaster film”,Green Earth,” will hit theaters on January 9, 2026. This time it’s bolstered with a beefier $90 million budget and more harrowing survival action for the Garrity family as they venture from the diminishing safety of their apocalyptic bunker five years after the events of the first film.
Director Ric Roman Waugh is back in the director’s chair, operating from a compelling story by original “Greenland” screenwriter Chris Sparling alongside Kandahar’s Mitchell LaFortune. Butler and Baccarin return for even more excellent performances in this second installment, playing John and Allison Garrity, as does Roman Griffin Davis as their young son, Nathan.
The trio make the decision to take a break from the shelter of Greenland and head south towards France and the location of the interstellar comet Clarke’s crater. This place is rumored to be a much safer area where society is trying to rebuild itself without the deadly radioactive clouds and barrage of comet fragments still falling to Earth. But it will be a really dangerous path that could cause many casualties along the way.
The remaining cast members of “Greenland 2: Migration” include Amber Rose Revah, Sophie Thompson, Trond Fausa Aurvåg and William Abadie. Ric Roman Waugh and Gerard Butler were on board the follow-up project as producers in collaboration with “John Wick” franchise producer Basil Iwanyk, along with Alan Siegel, Sebastien Raybaud, John Zois and Brendon Boyea.
