Rafik Moore: From Immigrant Beginnings to a $300 Million Commercial Real Estate Empire

Rafik Moore is a commercial real estate investor, entrepreneur, and mentor who has built one of the Midwest’s most recognized value-add real estate platforms over the past two decades. On Instagram, where he goes by @rafikmoore, his profile sums up his focus in a few lines: an immigrant-built commercial real estate portfolio spanning eight states, helping investors and tenants build cash flow through value-add deals, capital raising, and scaling — a message that has drawn roughly 14,000 followers to his page.

An Immigrant’s Start in America

Moore’s story begins far from the boardrooms he now occupies. Originally from Uzbekistan, he immigrated to the United States in 1998, arriving with limited English and few resources. Coming from humble beginnings, he learned early the meaning of hard work, ethics, and the importance of equal opportunity — values that would go on to define both his career and his approach to mentoring others. He later graduated in 2001 from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management with a Bachelor of Science in Finance, laying the academic foundation for a career that would eventually span more than two decades in commercial real estate.

Building a Real Estate Career From the Ground Up

Moore’s rise in commercial real estate came through a series of increasingly ambitious ventures. He held leadership roles at Royal Commercial Capital between 2006 and 2009 as senior broker and CEO, focusing on financing, brokering, and syndication of commercial real estate deals, before going on to lead Investors Capital LLC, where he specialized in rehabilitation, construction, leasing, and investment strategy work.

In 2016, he founded Caspian Group, which grew rapidly into a substantial regional player. The brokerage and property management firm expanded to manage over 2 million square feet of assets across the Midwest and Florida. The company focuses on the acquisition, adaptive reuse, and development of distressed industrial, retail, and office assets across the United States, reflecting Moore’s identity as a value investor drawn to properties others often overlook.

Brait Capital and a $300 Million Portfolio

Moore later founded Brait Capital, where he now serves as CEO, leading a team focused on discovering, financing, and repositioning underperforming commercial properties. One notable project has been the redevelopment of Midtown Square Mall in St. Cloud, Minnesota, where his team is converting outdated retail space into mixed-use facilities, including light industrial flex space and small business incubators.

Another recent deal highlights his value-add approach in action: in November 2025, Brait Capital purchased a 21,000-square-foot building on West Saginaw Highway in Delta Township, Michigan, a property that was roughly 75% vacant and in need of significant reinvestment at the time of purchase. Today, according to Moore, the building is fully leased and stabilized — a case study he often points to when explaining that the real value in commercial real estate isn’t created at closing, but through the execution, relationships, and patience that follow it.

Through these ventures, Moore has described building what he now calls a real estate portfolio worth more than $300 million across eight states — a striking trajectory for someone who arrived in the U.S. with little more than determination and a willingness to learn a new language and industry from scratch.

Mentorship and Community Building

Beyond deal-making, Moore has increasingly focused on mentoring the next generation of investors. His passion centers on helping, influencing, and impacting others to reach their highest potential, which he pursues through mentoring, coaching, and investing in young leaders aiming to grow in meaningful ways.

He has also built community around this mission through in-person events. His Value Add Network dinners bring together investors, brokers, operators, and entrepreneurs to connect, exchange ideas, and create real opportunities — gatherings he frames as being about building trust and adding value rather than traditional networking.

Through his coaching platform, Moore now teaches the same strategies that built his own portfolio — helping others find off-market deals, raise capital, negotiate seller financing, and grow their own real estate holdings — framing the work as being about more than financial return alone, but about personal growth and long-term impact in the communities where he invests.

A Reader and Lifelong Learner

Away from deal rooms and mentorship calls, Moore describes himself as someone who never stopped learning. He is a prolific reader with interests spanning history, philosophy, psychology, business, and self-improvement — habits that colleagues say show up in how he approaches both his investments and the people he works with.
