NYC restaurateur, Keith McNally, reveals A-list celebrity that made waitress cry: ‘Incredibly rude’

The New York Restorer, Keith McNally, has revealed to the celebrity of the list that he was once “incredible rude” to one of his servers, which led them to explode in crying.

McNally, who has more than a restaurant with access points in Manhattan, including Balthazar’s, Pastis and Minenetta Tavern, recalled when he worked as a general manager in the iconic fifth restaurant in the 1970s.

In an extract Obline on Grub Street of New York magazine Or his next memories, “I regret almost everything: a memory,” he named McNally and singer singer Patti Smith, who had frequented the Italian restaurant, which closed forever in February.

McNally revealed that the singer “because The Night” often at the access point with his then boyfriend, photographer Robert Mapplethorpe.

The duo joined the former Mapplethorpe, Sam Wagstaff, who had lived in an apartment on the Italian joint.

“Smith and Mapplethorpe could be very difficult to wait,” McNally wrote.

“Smith, unfortunately, was incredible rude for the servers. It is impossible for me to listen to a song by Patti Smith today with her, which reduced a waitress to tears because he forgot to put bread on the table,” he said.

Even so, McNally said Mapplethorpe “had never tried to give in,” unlike Grammy nominee.

The extract led several other users of social networks to share their experiences to cross paths with the singer, 78.

“He is not lying about Patti Smith,” wrote a person in the comments section of New York Magazine magazine Instagram publication. “I witnessed his rudeness years ago to work in a banquet.”

“The Patti Smith is rude to the comments of the servers that broke my heart,” another wrote, while a third added that they were “shocked” by learning Smith was not friendly with the servers.

Even so, some people hastened to defense of the singer.

“I know people who have spent time with her in recent years and she was sweet as it could … I guess she has softened … or that waiter was very sensitive,” a person wrote.

Another added: “Your comment on Patti is disturbing. She was always sealed and charming when we worked together or through Sony. [sic] Is it with her? Lord knows that I have had my bad moments. “

In 2022, McNally appeared in the headlines after Hey Sensationally prohibited James Corden From dinner at its New York restaurant, Balthazar, following the behavior of the British comedian graphics towards the staff.
