Maia Marcella Hazel is no ordinary artist; she is a dynamic force reshaping entertainment with unapologetic authenticity and creative vision. At just over 5 million combined followers on Instagram and YouTube, this Brazilian-American trans woman, actress, singer, songwriter, model, and art director is carving a path defined by courage, artistry, and social activism.

Early Beginnings: The Amazon’s Journey into Acting

Maia’s artistic voyage began early. She entered the world of acting at just twelve years old, nurturing her skills across theatre, voice acting, film, and television. Her breakout came as an Amazonian warrior in Wonder Woman, where she stunned audiences with both physicality and depth. But Maia viewed this not as a final destination, rather the launchpad for a deeper mission, to tell truths using her creative voice.

Music as Language: The Birth of a Voice

While acting provided a platform, Maria’s true passion has always been music. As she explains:

“Acting is part of my expression, but music is my language. It’s how I tell my truth in full volume.”

This credo drives her to craft music not just as entertainment, but as movement. Her debut singles, Se Assuma, LOSER, and PraDa dolce Bacana, captured attention, with the latter earning her a spot on Rolling Stone’s list of trans artists pushing sound boundaries.

One of her most defining early tracks, No Stress, No Game, found acclaim in queer underground circles across Brazil and Europe and was featured in independent art films. By consistently blending provocative lyricism, visually arresting videos, and unapologetic storytelling, Maia set herself apart as an artist who refuses to blend in.

“Bitch Please”: The Anthem of Resistance

Her upcoming single, Bitch Please, marks a turning point — a clarion call from a woman who refuses to be sidelined. This powerhouse track was written, produced, and directed by Maia herself, recorded between Lisbon, São Paulo, and Brooklyn.

In Maia’s own words:

“This track is for every girl who’s ever been told to sit down, shut up, or wait her turn… bold, sexy, political, and rooted in everything I am…”

Set for a dramatic visuals-heavy rollout, the single sees Maia inhabiting archetypal figures, the queen, the warrior, the insider, all unified by a message: trans people are done begging for permission. Produced free of label constraints, this release kicks off what she calls her “golden era”, audacious, independent, and fiercely personal.

Influences and Identity: Brazilian Roots, Global Reach

Musically, Maia draws deep inspiration from Brazilian legends like Cartola and Rita Lee, grounding her voice in rich cultural lineage. She also channels the theatricality of Bowie and the boldness of Lady Gaga , but in her own transgressive, unapologetic style.

Her identity as a Latina, Brazilian, trans woman is central to her artistry. Bitch Please responds directly to the discrimination she’s faced, translating rage into anthem, pain into purpose.

Trailblazing on the Stage: From Lisbon to SoHo

Maia’s stage presence is as diverse as her influences. She’s performed in Lisbon’s underground scene, São Paulo’s queer clubs, and New York’s SoHo, seen by critics as “the very scene that launched Lady Gaga”. Her momentum is unmistakable and global.
