The second China match of the 2026 Diamond League was held in Xiamen, China on May 23, 2026.

Some incredible performances, two that made history in Xiamen, shook us up a bit. So, here are my top five Xiamen performances!

  1. masai russell, the Olympic champion, knows how to deliver. Last week in Shanghai, Masai won the 100m hurdles in 12:25. In Xiamen, he runs 12.14 AR, the second fastest time ever, just a little behind Tobi Amusan’s 12.12 WR! What will she do next? Her 100 meter hurdles race was aggressive and almost perfect!

  2. Chinese fans were satisfied with Yan Ziyi amazing release! Yan threw 71.74 meters, the second fastest throw in javelin history, only behind Barbora Spotakova’s world record of 72.28 meters! The javelin is one of the most emblematic events of our sport. Such a throw will have an impact on the culture of women javelin throwers!

Ziyi Yan (CHN) wins the women’s javelin with a distance of 71.74 m in a new Diamond League record, under 20 world record, area record and meet record, at the Xiamen Diamond League meet, the second stop on the Wanda Diamond League circuit, on May 23, 2026.

  3. Shericka Jackson He is fit and in shape. He is also very confident, after his 200m world record and his victory in Xiamen! Shericka’s win in Xiamen was a big improvement on the Shanghai race, with those magnificent 21.87 in MR and WL. His exit out of the turn simply swept the field! Shout out to Shaunae Miller-Uibo who moved into second position on a hot streak.

  4. The 400 meters is one of the toughest sporting events. Collen Kebinatshipi, Botswana, took gold at the Tokyo 2025 World Championships. In Xiamen, Collen moved well around the oval, running 43.92 for the entire lap, and continues to impress, following her sub-10 second 100 meters earlier in the season (9.89). Collen should never be underestimated again.

  5. The 400 meter hurdles war will begin in 2026. Alison Dos Santos came out strong and just took a heavy load Karsten Warholm, With Dos Santos taking the WR at 46.72 vs. Warholm’s 46.82! Dos Santos’ obstacle course continues, but so does Warholm. Check out this event in July!

Honorable Mention: Rajindra Campbell, Coached by Ryan Crouser, he set Jamaica’s NR and took the win with a superb shot put of 22.34 metres, upsetting an impressive field. Ryan Crouser finished third with Jordan Geist in second place (21.52 meters), with Crouser in third place with 21.42 meters.
