Four Women World leads in Tom Jones
GAINESVILLE (USA, April 17-18): In the women’s events at the Tom Jones Memorial (WACT Challenger), four world leaders were recorded. In the 100m big NR for IVB Adaejah Hodge’s 10.77 (+1.7) was the first WL. Behind her, Jamaican Shenese Walker 10.80 PB and Alexis Brown 11.04. Also fast in the Olympic Development race, Anavia Battle 11.07 (-1.7) over Amy Hunt 11.12.

In another race, Guyana’s U20 national record is 11.10 (-0.9) by Athaleyha Hinckson. The fastest 200m time the previous day was Shawnti Jackson’s 22.35 (+0.4, equaling her 2023 PB), Olympic Development’s McKenzie Long 22.42 (-2.0) ahead of junior Mariah Maxwell 22.44, Favor Ofili 22.46, Kayla White 22.61 and British stars Amy Hunt 22.63 with Dina Asher-Smith. 03.23.
In the other race, Bahamian great Shaunae Miller-Uibo 22.64 (+0.7), and in the other race, Jamaican Gabrielle Matthews’ 22.41 PB (+1.5); however, the fastest in all conditions was Yahnari Lyons with 22.34w (2.9). Second world lead for Alexis Brown 707 PB (+1.4) in long jump ahead of Bahamian Anthaya Charlton 683 (+0.7).

Leadership in the third world for USA White in 4×100 m 41.70, the best historical time before May (Jefferson-Wooden, Battle, K. White, S. Richardson). Second Pure Athletics 42.42 (Dockery/JAM, Lyston/JAM, Luckenkemper/GER, Haase/GER).

South Carolina won the 4x400m event in 3:23.42, the fourth WL, as all four team members were Americans (Garrett, Ford, James, Akins). African hammer record 75.72 by Anthonett Nabwe of Liberia. In the 400 meters, Aaliyah Butler 50.10, in another race, the Jamaican Dejanea Oakley 50.55. Alexandra Webster clocked 12.78 (+1.7) to win the hurdles, but was faster in the heats at 12.71 (+1.0). In the 400m hurdles, Akala Garrett 54.46 ahead of Amelliah Birdow 54.96 PB, in another race, Fatoumata Diallo of Portugal 54.88.
