The British runner clocks 30:07 in Castellón while the Frenchman Yann Schrub surpasses Andreas Almgren’s men’s Eurocup record with 26:43.
Megan Keith has returned to form this winter and her strong results continued in Castellón on Sunday (February 22) when she took a second off Eilish McColgan’s women’s 10km European record in 30:07.
Spanish road racing has a reputation for producing fast times and there was also a men’s European record by Frenchman Yann Schrub, who clocked 26:43 to beat Andreas Almgren’s mark by two seconds.
Almgren equaled her old record with 26:45, very close to Schrub, although the victory went to Harbert Kibet of Uganda in 26:39, while Caroline Makandi Gitonga of Kenya was the first woman to reach home in 29:34.

Keith not only broke the record but had the satisfaction of beating McColgan, who finished sixth in 30:35 as she continues her preparations to run the London Marathon in two months’ time.
McColgan ran 30:08 in Valencia in January, the same day Almgren set his European record of 26:45.
Just 12 months ago, Keith felt like he was at “ground zero” following a forced layoff due to injury following the Paris 2024 Olympics.
However, the 23-year-old, who lives in Edinburgh, returned to form last year, culminating in 10th place in the 10,000m at the World Championships in Tokyo.
In December she finished runner-up to Nadia Battocletti of Italy at the European Cross Country Championships in Portugal. In January, he placed 25th at the World Cross Country Championships in Florida after having a tough start and then struggling with the heat in the closing stages.

Schrub, 29, won the Euro Cross in 2023 and was ninth in the world 5,000m final last year. Like Keith, he raced in the World Cross in January and came 11th in the men’s race, while on the track he clocked 7:29.38 in the indoor 3,000m earlier this month.
