Gregg Popovich has medical incident in restaurant, is resting at home

The San Antonio coach Greg Popovich is fine at home after needing medical care earlier this week after an incident in a restaurant, said a person with knowledge of the matter to Associated Press on Friday.

Popovich, 76, who lost most of this season while recovering from what he Spurs Called a slight blow, it was in a restaurant in San Antonio on Tuesday night when he did not feel good, said the person, who spoke with the AP on condition of anonymity because Neith Popovich or the team disseminated any details publicly.

TMZ Sports, who first reported the story, Video Obline images of what he said was that Popovich was away from the restaurant on a stretcher and loaded in the back of an ambulance. TMZ said rescue officials were called by some reports that a person passed out at the restaurant.

Popovich had a blow to the team’s sand in San Antonio on November 2. The assistant coach Mitch Johnson Tok, as chief of action coach that night and ended up training the last 77 games of the team season.

Popovich was in regular contact with Johnson and, often, in the installation, only the team was going to the team at least one occasion in February. Popovich, at that time, said he hopes he can “return to training in the future.”

The Spurs have not given any indication if Popovich plans to return in time for the beginning of the next season. It is under contract with the team during the 2027-28 season.

Popovich is a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame, has led the Spurs to five NBA Championships and guided US basketball to an Olympic gold medal at Tokyo Games in 2021. He is the leader of all time in the history of the NBA and one of the only three coaches to win the prize to the NBA year coach three times.

His mandate with the Spurs dates back to 1988 when he joined the club as an assistant coach. He left in 1992 and returned on May 31, 1994, as executive vice president of basketball operations and general manager.

He fired Bob Hill and appointed coach on December 10, 1996, maintaining that title since then.
