A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dr. Fitzgerald was born at Magee-Womens Hospital — the very place where she would one day become a leading medical figure. She pursued her undergraduate studies at Penn State’s Schreyer Honors College, completing dual degrees in Biology/Neurobiology and Women’s Studies/Women’s Health. Driven by a passion for advancing care in women’s health, she earned her medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She went on to complete her residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital and a competitive fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at Georgetown University.
Today, Dr. Fitzgerald is a double board-certified physician in both Obstetrics & Gynecology and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. She serves as an Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh, where she focuses on treating complex pelvic floor disorders and chronic bladder pain. Her surgical innovations aim to not only treat but transform the lives of women experiencing life-altering gynecological conditions.
