30 Questions Teachers Can Ask At Their Next Job Interview

So you are considering taking a teaching job? Or at least interviewing?

What should Aspk be to make sure it is a good option for both and for school?

Understand the point of a teacher’s job interview

First, understand that he is interviewing the school and the district as much as they are interviewing it, and this is not a game of power of a child. I have separated them into two categories: practices and pedagogical. “Practical” questions are more about work itself: salary, insurance, placement, etc. I have probably lost some obvious because these children’s children vary greatly from one position to the next. Something absolutely crucial in a country, state or district can be much less in another.

The second category focuses more on the nature of pedagogy itself, and although it is still relative, it should be a bit more universal. For now, 30 questions to ask in your next teacher work interview with a school or district.

Practical interview questions for teachers

1. How can I help? That is, beyond ‘teaching the class’, what opportunities are there for me to support my believers and students in this school?

2. In terms or deliverables – visible results-What is expected of each teacher every day? What are the ‘non -negotiable’ of school and the district? That is, what are the things, Behraaviors and general expectations, but are in their place for each teacher, every day universally and in all areas without negotiation or flexibility? (This sounds like a strange question, but in general, it is reduced to how the School/District “does things” and can have a great effect on the adjustment between the teacher and the work that is being interviewed).

3. What are the requirement plan/curriculum requirements?—A in terms or format, focus, collaboration, standards, publication, etc.? This is similar to #1, but it focuses exclusively on the design of the unit, the lesson and the evaluation and the procedures of the school. For example, are the lessons written? If so, is there any flexibility? If not, what are the ‘expectations’ for collaboration among teachers? Is there a rhythm guide? How is it used? How can stimulation guides and curriculum, etc. affect the data?

4. What is the model and school behavior plan? How do teachers and staff work together to support both students and teachers to create a safe and loving physical and intellectual environment to learn?

5. What is the disease/Snow Day Assistance Policy for Teachers?

6. What is the policy of the school and the district with respect to the COVID and relationship protocols, how they have changed over time and how do they expect them to change in the near future? How do teachers protect and support while navigating the challenges of teaching the Covid epidemic?

7. How much will I win? What is the salary scale and how does it change annually? What insurance and related benefits are there for teachers? How often are teachers paid? Is the tank available immediately? What about a cafeteria plan?

8. What are the opportunities and extracurricular requirements for teachers?

9. What committees are in this school and how effective have bone to achieve their purpose? How can I contribute to its continuous growth over time?

10. How is this school/district different from what it was ten ago? What data is there to support that? (Be careful asking the second part, but know with certainty that a school or a district would think twice before asking a teacher something similar).

11. What convincing opportunities are there to improve my trade in this school or district?

12. How strong is the IT department of the School/District? Are they very personalized and with enough funds? What about the district’s internet filter? Are you designed to support student learning?

13. What role does this librarian/media specialist play in the average classroom daily? (This can count in several ways).

14. Is there an instructional coach or curriculum expert that can help me grow? Or are they better used to “catch me doing badly”? (Don’t ask the second part).

15. How do I know that I am safe: physical, professional, emotionally and otherwise?

Pedagogical interview questions for teachers

16. How is a student achievement defined and measures?

17. What Learning models Are they used in this school/district? What has the most effective bee found? How could you contribute to that advance?

18. How is technology used to support students and their families? How did it used Customize learning?

19. Would this position encourage me to focus on students’ strengths or weaknesses?

20. What is the school mission and how do they fit the curriculum, students and staff to help do it?

21. How are data used to support teachers and students? How precise are the measurements tools used to extract that data?

22. Do students like to go to school here?

23. Do teachers like to teach here? What types of collaboration among teachers are ‘necessary’? Motivated? Compatible?

24. Do parents feel welcome here?

25. What have recently been the best successes of this school? Historical?

26. Does the school have a ‘Growth mentality“? The district? Is it pressure, pressure, say pleasant and well -intentioned things, pressure, pressure?

27. How do different evaluation forms and data sources work to improve the results for students? How are these accessible data for teachers? How has this accessibility and data quality improve in the last five years?

28. How do superintendents, assistant superintendents and other similar roles support students and teachers and how can I support their work in my position?

29. Are the arts value here? Humanities in general?

30. How do the curriculum work together, the maps of the curriculum, the stimulation guides, the units, the lessons and any evaluation of district/state level? Is each one flexible enough to do it?

31. How do innovation and tradition work together to serve students?

32. Where do autonomy have? How do you nourish and cultivate the ability of teachers throughout the year?

33. How likely a student can “graduate” of this school (who has acted well) and still have very few hopes for his own future? In other words, how does the students ‘lives and arches of students’ life improve here? How do we know?

34. Is it “safe” teaching here? That is, is it safe for me professionally and physically?

35. Is there a teacher union? Is it mandatory? What is the story of the relationship between the union of any teacher and the school/district?
