Ayurvedic Rituals to Ground You This Fall

Autumn has always felt a turning point. While the days become shorter and the air cools, I don’t feel fear, I feel energized. I just jokes that I have a reverse seasonal depression: the summers, with its endless sun, let it worry me, while autumn and winter feel at home. It’s part of why I moved to Portland, Oregon. I love the welcoming and rainy months and the feeling of possibility they bring. Ayurveda, a traditional Indian medicine system rooted in the belief that the body, mind and spirit are deeply interconnected, teaches that thesis transitions are not accidents. They are opportunities to pay attention. And with some conscious Ayurvedic rituals, we can align with the season instead of resisting it.

I remembered this after reading Camille’s own reflections on experiencing Bali’s welfare culture. How to prosper in Autumn, Ayurveda Chordination

In Ayurveda, every season carries its own qualities, and autumn is the most dramatic. As the air dries and cools, our bodies instinctively emphasize. But without conscious nutrition, the body can easily lean to the imbalance: become stagnant, accumulate mucus or leave slow digestion (despite a stronger appetite).

That is why Ayurveda considers that Fall is a fundamental season: he calls us to anchor, nourish and heat up so that we can experience these months with balance and ease. When it comes to Ayurvedic rituals, simpler, better. A cup of warm milk at night, spiced with cardamom or nutmeg, relieves the nervous system and prepares the body for a restorative dream. And beyond these tactile practices, Ayurveda teaches us to honor the rhythms of the day itself: eat our biggest food at noon, when digestion is stronger and decreasing before 10 pm, the body is prepared to rest.

Simple Ayurvedic Rituals for Autumn
