The Best New Holiday Movies of 2025

This year, I consider myself most satisfied when my entire to-do list includes watching every last one of the best new Christmas movies in 2025. (And I’m feeling ambitious: Let’s set the deadline before New Year’s Eve.) While everyone else is attending the holidays, tackling their winter TBR list, and finishing up their Christmas shopping, I’m happily hibernating at home. You can see me curled up on the couch in my childhood home, covered in blankets and pressing play over and over again to watch movies that are sure to give me all that warm and fuzzy feeling. Christmas movie night, anyone?

Fix it

The Best New Christmas Movies to Stream in 2025

I’ll show you an even clearer picture of my ideal Christmas weekend: fuzzy socks, endless cups of hot chocolate, and, yes, spending the entire day in my pajamas. The only thing that can make it even more perfect? This list of the best new Christmas movies of 2025. When I’m not listening to my favorite Christmas playlist, I’m making my way through these cozy new Christmas movies.

I’ve rounded up everything Netflix, Hulu, and all of our streaming platforms have to offer. There are new versions of old classics, feel-good Christmas movies, and (of course) Christmas-themed romantic comedies that will make even the Scrooges among us believe in love. Continue on for a healthy dose of inspiration for staying cozy indoors, and let me know if there are any must-sees I should add to my watch list.

This year’s essential releases

Oh. That. Fun.

The magic of the holiday season often falls squarely on the shoulders of moms around the world, and Oh. That. Fun. explores what it would be like if a mother clocked out. Featuring a star-studded cast (Michelle Pfeifer, Felicity Jones, Chloë Grace Moretz, Denis Leary and more), This film feels like a love letter to frazzled hosts and unexpected magic that arises when a vacation goes off the rails.

Available in: Prime Video, streaming December 3

Jingle Bell Heist

A heist movie with a Christmas touch? Say less! If you need a break from holiday rom-coms, Jingle Bell Heist It seems like the perfect antidote. Olivia Holt and Connor Swindells play a retail worker and repairman looking to rob a posh London department store on Christmas Eve. This movie does not completely Ditch the Christmas romance though, as there is definitely some chemistry between these two.

Available in: Netflix, streaming November 26

A very Jonas Christmas movie

If you grew up watching the single-camera sitcom JONAS on Disney Channel, or just love the Jonas Brothers, a Jonas Brothers Christmas movie will be music to your ears! The premise couldn’t be simpler (or more charming, let’s be real), as the boys face hilarious mishaps while trying to get home for the holidays after a concert in London.

Available in: Disney+, streaming now

Cozy Romantic Comedies

A happy little ex-mas

Alicia Silverstone and Melissa Joan Hart? Still my millennial heart! In an effort to have one more Christmas with the kids before her divorce, Kate (played by Silverstone) runs into trouble when her ex-husband (Oliver Hudson) brings his new girlfriend (Jameela Jamil) into the fold. Rest assured, you can rely on wacky characters, over-the-top antics, and plenty of Christmas romance!

Available in: Netflix, streaming now

My secret Santa

My secret Santa is giving Mrs. Doubtfire, just the opposite with a Christmas twist – I’m here for it! Alexandra Breckenridge plays a single mother who takes a job at a luxury ski resort to help pay for her daughter’s snowboarding lessons. The twist? The job is to play Santa Claus… dressed as a man. Things get complicated (and fun) when she falls in love with the hotel manager and has to keep her identity as the ski lodge’s Santa a secret.

Available in: Netflix, streaming December 3

Champagne problems

Swifties, don’t worry, this movie isn’t about a very sad train ride after rejecting a marriage proposal (IYKYK). It’s a Christmas love story set in Paris! Minka Kelly plays Sydney, an American executive who travels to France to close a deal with a luxury champagne brand for her company. It turns out that the founder’s son is quite the dreamer and has a charming French accent, so naturally a whirlwind romance ensues.

Available in: Netflix, streaming November 19

She is making a list

Some might say Lacey Chabert is the queen of Hallmark Christmas movies, so knowing there’s a new Christmas movie on the way is quite exciting. Chabert plays Isabel, a top consultant for Santa’s new Naughty and Nice Group, a consulting firm tasked with helping Santa determine his naughty and nice list. However, things go wrong when Isabel falls in love with a widowed father with a mischievous daughter.

Available in: Hallmark, airing December 6

Christmas above the clouds

Who doesn’t like a new version? A Christmas story? In this version, Ebenezer Scrooge is now Ella Neezer, a workaholic CEO who is visited by three ghosts on her overnight flight to Australia on Christmas Eve. Scrooge loses his love, Belle, in the classic tale, but this version has an unexpected encounter with Ella’s ex, leading me to believe that Ella could rekindle this relationship with a dash of Christmas magic.

Available in: Hallmark, streaming now

Joy to the world

Joy Edwards (Emmanuelle Chriqui), lifestyle guru and cookbook author, presents a perfect life, but her world is turned upside down when a television network decides to film a Christmas dinner at her house. Hijinks ensue when she recruits her best friend (Chad Michael Murray) to be her on-screen husband. Perhaps a nod to the 1945 film. Christmas in Connecticut, Joy to the world is a quintessential romantic comedy – a perfect combination of comedy and romance!

Available in: Hulu, streaming now

Finding Joy by Tyler Perry

Getting stranded in the middle of a Colorado winter and then being rescued by a man living in a cabin with no Internet access could very well be the beginning of a horror movie. However, in the very capable hands of Tyler Perry, it’s also the beginning of a charming Christmas romantic comedy! Joy (Shannon Thorton) is a down-on-her-luck fashion designer in New York City who follows her crush to Colorado to spend the holidays with her family. A blizzard leaves her stranded, but her savior Ridge (Tosin Morohunfola) leads her to love in the most unexpected way.

Available in: Prime Video, streaming now

family favorites

The family plan 2

The family plan I have a sequel! Mark Wahlberg returns as Dan Morgan, a father and former assassin whose past catches up with him while vacationing with his family in Europe. This franchise reminds me a little of the incredibles, and game of Thrones Fans will be delighted to see Kit Harington as the bad guy. An action-packed Christmas adventure that the whole family will love.

Available in: AppleTV, streaming November 21

Preparation and landing: the snowball protocol

More than a decade has passed since the first Preparation and landing premiered in 2009, and Santa’s elves, Lanny and Wayne are back! This time, the duo is tasked with a Christmas mission that goes wrong, causing the elves to fear that their boss (Santa, of course) will be disappointed on the most important day of the year.

Available in: Disney+, streaming November 28
