Another glorious year in the force! Helldivers 2, the bug-busting, bot-busting, democracy-delivering co-op shooter, celebrated its second birthday in February, and now developers Arrowhead Game Studios have revealed the statistics of our efforts to deliver freedom across the galaxy over the past 365 days.
The team dropped this enlightening infographic about Xand it’s packed with fun statistics and big numbers. 279,991,000,000 enemies (or threats to democracy) defeated, to use the official language of Super Earth; It’s such a big number that I had to Google how to say it (it’s two hundred and seventy-nine billion, nine hundred and ninety-one million).
There are other fun stats, including a ranking of the most popular stratagems in the game. Not counting reinforcement and resupply, because they’re boring, the three most used stratagems were the Eagle 500KG bomb, the Sentry machine gun, and the Gatling Sentry. They’re not bad choices, but I’m outraged that my beloved Orbital 380MM HE Barrage isn’t even in the top 10.
And finally, yes, we know what everyone is here for, it’s friendly fire stats. There were 177 million friendly fire incidents last year, and absolutely none of that was due to my love of the aforementioned 380mm bombing. No, no sir.
I’m actually safe because the top three friendly fire offenders were the Eagle Strafing Run (no surprise, that Eagle Storm modifier is always the death of me), the B-100 Portable Hellbomb (oh, you strapped a ripcord nuke to someone’s back and you’re surprised they died), and the AX/ARC-3 K9 (it’s doing its best).
Despite being two years old, Helldivers 2 is still one of the best space games out there, offering chaotic cooperative third-person shooter action, gorgeous visuals, and a strong undercurrent of satire. If you’re interested in joining the fight for Super Earth, it’s now available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. I promise you that a 380mm bombardment probably won’t hit you.
