last season, Victor Wembanyama captivated fans’ imaginations when he dressed up as the fictional supernatural character Slender Man. This year, however, the San Antonio Spurs star won’t be able to show off a costume before the Halloween night game.

On Tuesday, Spurs writer Jared Weiss reported that Wemby and his team will not play on October 31. Rather, the Spurs will play the night before.

“Wemby said he won’t be dressing up for Halloween this year because the Spurs play on the 30th and leave on Halloween night. Tragic,” Weiss tweeted.

On Thursday, the Spurs will face the Miami Heat, their fifth opponent on their regular season schedule. After this matchup, the Spurs’ next outing will be against the Phoenix Suns on Sunday.

Fans reacted to the news that Wembanyama will not be able to wear a Halloween costume before an NBA game for the third year in a row.

“Another reason to hate Adam Silver,” one fan tweeted.

It’s disappointing that Victor Wembanyama won’t show off a Halloween costume this year due to the game’s schedule, but his previous creative efforts, such as dressing up as Slender Man and No-Face, have certainly set a high bar for future celebrations.

Wemby needs to keep the tradition alive!

So to speak, Wembanyama doesn’t need a costume to be scary in his third NBA season. In four games, the 7-foot-3 Frenchman is averaging 31.0 points and 13.8 rebounds per outing. Buoyed by their impressive play, the Spurs have an unblemished record of 4-0.

Fans may have to wait until next year to see Wembanyama sporting another horror-themed costume at a Spurs playdate. Right now, the rest of the league has to deal with his fearsome performance.

‘Have Spurs never been 5-0?’: Victor Wembanyama sets personal goal of leading Spurs to record-breaking record

During a recent media availability, journalist Hector Ledesma informed Wembanyama that the Spurs have never gone undefeated in the first five games of a regular season.

Upon hearing this, the All-Star center set his sights on a new goal.

“Have the Spurs never been 5-0? We broke that record,” Wembanyama said.

The Spurs have a chance to reach this unprecedented 5-0 record by defeating the Miami Heat on Thursday. A fifth straight win to start the 2025-26 season would further strengthen Wembanyama’s case for MVP this year.
