Scout Adkin of Great Britain is runner -up in the Women’s race in the WMRA WMRA Mountain World Cup race on Sunday
After a vertical NASA full of fictions on Saturday (May 24), Sunday was time for the 24th edition of Trophy Nasego. Many of the runners doubled in boats, so last night it was a case of refueling and recovery in the beautiful surroundings of Casto.
Trophy Nasego is a course of the Long Distance World Cup or 20.6 km with 1330 mo ascent. It begins quite gently, slowly ascending 300 meters in the first 10 km, with some fast, executable and undulating sections. But then the climb really begins seriously, since the runners rise 700 meters of more than 7 km, since they make the long rise to the highest point of rifugio nasego at 1300 m. After an initially steep descent, it becomes a rapid descent to the end in Famea.
Women
On Saturday, the races between Philaries Kisang (Run2gher) and Scout Adkin (Hoka Eu) were incredible, with Kisang that came to the top. It was a perspective of temptalization to see a rematch today. As we are so accustomed to seeing, Kisang struck out the front from the beginning, but Adkin will not let her open a gap and stayed directly towards her heels.
In the piano I gave only 5 km Kisang remained in the lead, but Adkin was only five seconds behind her. Another 30 seconds behind were Valentine Jepkoech Rutto (Athletics Saluzzo), then a group that includes Joyce Mumchoni Njeru (Saluzzo Athletics), Andrea Mayr (Hoolirun), Alice Gunner (Restyman Group) and British. And British.

When they approached the help station at 12 km in Pannelli, where the runners began the long ascent, but the steep section has not yet been activated, Kisang was holding his leadership, but Adkin was still only 10 seconds late. Rutto remained third, with the same group of hunters on his heels.
When they hit the foot of the hard climb to Rifugio Nasego, which marks the highest point of the race, Kisang remained in command of this race and had opened the gap in Adkin a little, now it was 18 seconds. But the key change at this point was that they had opened a gap in Rutto, Mayr and Njeru. The race was really lit for the first time, but it began to seem unlikely that someone could catch Kisang and Adkin, and came to the rifugio comfortably ahead.

We saw how also combined they are Kisang and Adkin in Ascending yesterday, so it was no surprise to see them reach the highest point together. The big question was whether Adkin’s ascending skills could allow him to overcome Kisang in that long descent. It was to be and Kisang La Victoria at 1:46:16, after a sprint finish of nail bites that saw Adkin ended only six seconds behind. The gap for third spread more in the descent while fighting and it was Njeru who took third at 1:51:33, with Routto in fourth and Mayr in fifth.

Men
As expected, the rhythm was fast from the beginning since the runners left Parco della Fucine. It was clear that Filemón Kiriago (Run2Gether) was not going to give up his 2024 title without a fight while he was put in leadership. At the 5 km point, he had already opened a 40 -second gap in the second place Luciano Rota (Grupo La Rem Radici). Behind Rota sat Michael Saoli (Run2Gether), yesterday’s male winner Richard Atuya (Run2gher) and Roberto Giacomotti.
In Pannelli, at the point of 12 km just before the runners, the big climb, Kiriago clung to his leadership and, in fact, he had extended it around a minute. Rota was still in second place and Paul Machoka (Athletic Saluzzo) had reached the third part, but was still very close to the second to the sixth with Theodore Small, Saoli and Atuya still within reach.
At the foot of the final part of the rise to Rifugio Nasego, Kiriago continued to stretch a gap and male was already in second place, with Atuya in third place. But everything could change with this last ascent section and then the great descent of going.

In fact, Kiriago managed to increase his two -minute advantage when he reached Rifugio Nasego and began to seem doubtful that he could be caught. Machoka remained secondly, and Atuya in third place, only 20 seconds late. The race for the second and third was where the battle was at this point.
