A University of Liberal Arts in South Carolina with almost two centuries of history could begin the closing process at the end of April unless you find the amazing amount of $ 6 million for emergency funds.

Limestone University, a private university of Christian liberal arts in Gaffney, previously known as Limestone College, was founded in 1845 as one of the first women’s conferences in the country. Now I could move towards the instruction only online or the closure completely on April 22 before the semester ends.

The Board of Trust of Limestone shared an urgent message on its website last week announcing the emergency, citing decreases in registration nationwide, the increase in costs and other structural challenges faced by liberal arts disproportionately.

“The priority of the Board is to preserve the limestone and service limestone mission on our campus in addition to online. But without this financial life line, we have no choice but to move all online operations, which means closing our physical campus,” said Randalle Richard.

The indicated $ 6 million that the Board said it is necessary to help cover the operating costs and resources to create long -term solutions, according to the press release.

Tok a particularly difficult duration of the fiscal year 2022-2023 and worked with a deficit of $ 12.6 million, for $ 10 million more than the previous cycles, according to Propublic.

Both students and the locals begin to panic as Goffney without the University of Limestone will soon be made.

“The psychological and emotional toll will be equally deep. The limestone has been a point of pride, tradition and inspiration for our residents. It has opened doors for innumerable students and local families. Many of them were the First Generation University. Honor Limestone University,” wrote the mayor of Gaffney, Lyman Dawkins.

Others were blinded by the announcement of the trusts, including university staff.

“I am a little scared. We really do not know the next steps of what he will bite or what is happening, but we just have to take a step at the same time and find out what we are going to do. We are going to do, I will go to go to go to go. WJBF.

Some are a time for social networks for donations, with many students who publish videos on Tiktok and ask for influential people like Mr. Beast to take a hand.

Limestone University already has in touch with the NCAA and will organize an “reverse university fair” on April 25 so that current students can explore other universities.
