Legislation sacrifices
Hope against disaster
Last week, I visited the office of my Senator of California, Tim Grayson, and I urged him to vote yes in the Contaminator pays the climate superfund law. This bill guarantees that the State has funds to address the climatic crisis: funds obtained from polluting.
As a high school student in Orinda, I try to maintain hope for the future, but when I read that my community has Forest fire potential As severe as recent fires in Los Angeles, I fear for the future.
I remember that when the air quality of the distant forest fire bath made my Saister had breathing difficulties. He forced my family to mask when I was outside and created fear of walking equally the dog, which could not use a mask to protect. There are thousands of stories like mine throughout the state.

Measure t deserves
A yes of the voters
Large schools make strong communities. Walnut Creek residents, Lafayette, Orinda and Moraga have constantly supported local tax proposals to ensure that our children have access to high quality public education.
Voting yes to the extent T provide locally controlled funds to Lomas, Acalanes, Campolindo and Miramonte the secondary schools to avoid imminent cuts and make our secondary schools depend less on poorly reliable and inappropriate state funds.
I am a volunteer in our schools and with the Walnut Creek Education Foundation, I care deeply the opportunity provided to our children through our local public schools. Strong local schools prepare our students for success, improve the values of our properties and strengthen our communities.
Vote yes to the measure before May 6 to maintain great teachers, high quality programs and offerings of various and rigorous courses for our students.

Can you read?
With ‘more of the same’
Re: “Barbara Lee chose the next mayor of Oakland, defeating Loren Taylor(Page A1, April 19).
Oakland is full of high crimes, many homeless people and money shortage. It has bone led by “progressive” Democrats for years, and voters have teams that only backed “more of the same” when choosing Barbara Lee as the next mayor.
Of course, time will tell how this works. Heaven knows that residents deserve better than their current situation.

Meta ethics fades
In erroneous information
According to relations with target investors websiteIts mission “is to build the future of human connection and technology that makes it possible.” This mission statement is a not so subtle deviation of the original Facebook mission statement of “giving people the power to share and make the world more open and connected.”
This change seems very close to a bait and changes to Weby users who only want to share and communicate with their friends are now subject to a content flow generated by the algorithm that they are not interested in or are asked to see. Is this the future of the human connection?
Is the future of human communication generated by false accounts, such as social bots, which flood the platform that seeks to deceive the finishing algorithms and, therefore, propagate false and misleading information?
Goal has lost its ethical and moral compass. Goal should stand up and get your original mission statement again.

Houses need more
That the defensible space
Re: “Move to reduce the risk of houses ok’d(Page B1, April 18).
Berkeley can demand a clear 5 -foot zone to mitigate the risk of forest fires. This is to help “harden” structures against forest fires.
Cal Fire and others have a more complete rug Or measures that are, some “do it” or economic, others may be expensive. If your roof is worn and dripping, Cal Fire Room has a fire resistant roof. If you can afford to replace your roof, it will improve your safety and give you peace of mind. Each hardened structure helps protect nearby houses.
