Los Angeles (AP): In the fight for the United States Chamber, Democrats are the power of Hop’s rock star will help expel a Republican east of Los Angeles while the party seeks to recover control of the chamber and slow of the agenda of President Donald Trump.
Tim Myers, a former bassist nominated for Grammy for the creators of international successes Onerepublic, announced Thursday that he will challenge the representative Ken Calvert in district 41 of the battlefield in Riverside County that extends from the Los Angeles suburbs to the Haven Resort of Palm Springs.
“Ken Calvert has been in Washington for 30 years,” says Myers in a video that announces his campaign. The “status quo doesn’t work.”

Christian Martínez, spokesman for the campaign arm of the Chamber’s Republicans, said in a statement that “Democrat Tim Myers is all bad with today’s radical left: a liberal Hollywood who tries to pretend his way to Riverside County.”
Myers grew up in Corona, most of which is in the district, but now lives in the neighboring Los Angeles County.
At a time when the competitive competitions of the Chamber become more scarce throughout the country, the Democrats Calvert closely divided the California district one of the best opportunities of the party to gain ground in the camera, where Republicans have a fragile majority of 220-213.
With the Congress and the White House under republican control, and the Democrats who face a uphill struggle to take the Senate in 2026, the California contest will have an additional importance as the Democrats will maneuver to resume the camera to provide a counterweight to the trap.

Myers, a prolific producer, composer and artist in solo, is positioning himself as an agent of change in a career against one of the most important members of the house. Myers, 40, said he was in the second degree when Calvert, the oldest Republican in the Delegation of the State Congress, was first chosen in 1992.
In the video that seems to have filmed in one leg in a recording studio, Myers remembers the son of a shepherd in Corona, on the western edge of the southern district of California. He recounts the ups and downs of the notorially cuthroat music that anyone led him to find his own record label. Now he lives in the Tony enclave of Hidden Hills in the neighboring Los Angeles County, a popular redoubt for musicians and actors.
Myers rebukes of Trump’s policies that say he will damage veterans and raise consumer prices.
“Our community has a price outside the property of housing, the groceries are more exensous every week and we are constantly threatened by forest fires and growing crime,” Myers said in a statement. “It’s time for change.”
Republicans have a thin registration advantage in the district, less than 2 points over the Democrats, and Calvert has won difficult challenges in the last two elections. Calvert prevailed by an advantage of 3 points in 2024, the same year that Trump took the district for 6 points about Democrat Kamala Harris, the former senator and attorney general of the United States of California.
The arm of the campaign of the Democrats of the House of Representatives has appointed Calvert a main objective for 2026, since it was in 2024. The Calvert campaign raised more than $ 1.3 million the first quarter of 2025.
California is known as a liberal protectorate. Democrats have all state positions, dominate the legislature and delegation of Congress and overcome the Republicans registered by an amazing relationship of 2-1. Even so, the Republicans retain the foci of political influence in the suburbs of southern California and the fixed rural sections, including the belt of the farm of the Central Valley.
In 2024, a difficult year for democrats nationwide, the party picked up three seats from the Heroes of the Gops in California.
