Massapequa Soccer Shop closing its doors after 53 special years

It is full time for the Massequa football store.

The family business, which has been a basic element in the Long Island football community for almost 53 years, will close its doens forever in June.

“I was 13 years old and my mother and I really started the store,” Owner Hen Fishman, who runs the business with his brother, Mark Bodenstein. “I have bone here all my life.”

Fishman and Bodenstein chose to close to take a well -deserved retirement, but not before the most sincere thanks.

“The effusion of support and memories that we have Gods in recent days, I suppose that my brother and I never realized the impact we had,” Fishman said.

He added that Massequa’s great football, Christie Welsh, who played in the US National Team of the USA.

“They have been people from the past who return, memories, it’s totally overwhelming,” said Fishman. “It’s amazing, you recognize the names of the people you met 20, 30 years ago.”

The owner’s memory is very vivid because in his half century of work, talking to the client was the best part of the work, he said.

“I liked to discover” Where do you play? What do you like to do? “” She said.

“We really care about people. And now we thank us after thanks. We should thank everyone for keeping ourselves in business.”

In the male Lacrosse this week, a strong Port Washington team 7-1 houses a 4-3 Mepham team at 1 PM on Saturday.

On the girls side, 4-1 Lynbrok Visit 2-6 North Shore at 10 am on Saturday.
