Paige Bueckers’ hometown being renamed after her for WNBA debut

Paige Bueckers has the entire city of Hopkins behind her, even on behalf.

In greeting one of its most successful residents, the city of Hopkins, Minnesota, will temporarily change “Paige Bueckers, Minnesota” on May 16, 2025.

This special designation coincides with the debut in Bueckers professional basketball after being the number 1 general selection in the 2025 WNBA Draft for the Dallas Wings.

He Hopkins City Council approved unanimously A proclamation to honor the notable achievements of Bueckers.

The day will be official recognized as “Bueckers de Paige Day”, with local companies that participate in topic specials and organizing watches parties for the first game of The Wings season.

“The city of Hopkins would like to honor their achievements and wishes him the best of luck at a professional level by proclaiming on May 16 as Paige Bueckers Day and renewing the city to Paige Bueckers, Minnesota for the day.” The announcement reads. “We invite the community to celebrate the beginning of the WNBA season with Think Hopkins and our local businesses at WNBA Watch Day, where companies will have thematic specials, will broadcast the game and celebrate the starter of the season: Women’s Sports.”

Bueckers’ basketball career jumped to fame at Hopkins High School, where he won national attention and became Arguffy the number 1 player in the country.

Hopkins was Gatorade’s player of the year, the player of the year of Morgan Wooten and the Naismith’s preparation player of the year, along with being an All-American of McDonald’s High School and Miss Basketball.

Bueckers recently won his first and only national title at the University with UConn, while also adorns the first All-American Honors team and the Nancy Libernn Prize for the second time.

Bueckers and The Wings will open their 2025 WNBA campaign at home against Minnesota Lynx, who lost to freedom in the WNBA finals last year.
