This is a sad day for the Rangers organization. Realization of a second search for coaching within three years and the third in the last five players outside the sheets an admission of guilt of the hierarchy, adjustment or present. Successful franchises are models or stability.

The Rangers once were that. From the dawn of the effective capitalization effectiveness in 2005-06 to the 2017-18 season, the club had only three chief coaches around 13 seasons, Tom Renney (more than three), John Tortorella (four more) and Alain Vigneult (five).

But the Rangers are not equally close to that now. The next man will be the fourth man behind the New York Bank in six seasons, after David Quinn, Gerard Gallant and Peter Laviolette, the latter Dismissed on Saturday by President-GM Chris Dury After not being able to get to the playoffs a year after ending the best record in hockey while going to the final of the conference.

The authority and state of Dury within the organization were the confirmed implicity when it was allowed to make that decision before holding a press conference that said: “Start with me.”
