The rangers that left the winners of the president’s trophy to a limit secondary show were a reason for concern more than enough this season.
However, when evaluating the analysis of ice analysis, separately from everything else that was considered in this lost campaign of 2024-25, the level of concern is only amplified.
So much so that it paints a serious image of how much work, the president and the general manager, Chris Dury, has to do this to restore blue shirts as a Stanley Cup contender.
Mollie Walker of The post identifies three of the most worrying statistics of the season.
1. 17.6 PERCENTAGE OF ENERGY GAME
Finishing the season he ranked 28 at the NHL, the power game of the Rangers was surprisingly bad. When considering how crucial it has been for the success of the team in recent years, seeing the players who used to automatically find the net fight to maintain the area was dazzling.
The power game has become increasingly predictable for opponents as the years go by, but the threat of scoring was rarely there to begin.
The fact that they attract the eighth closer power game opportunities (210) is a will of the little that the Rangers had the Cering Five album against five. The seven short -term goals they left were also tied in the room in the League.
After a small personnel movement in recent years, chief coach Peter Laviolette made several changes in both units during the season to try to start it. Even so, the upper unit almost always began.
In addition, of the seven 5V3 opportunities they obtained, the Rangers capitalized only two of them.
2. Five goals or more allowed an amazing 23 times
For the number of people, the Rangers allowed five goals or more at approximately 28.05 percent of the 82 games season. There are several other statistics that explain why this was the case, but only those who saw closely the Blue Wishs this season know that they do not tell the whole story.
The Rangers realized adversity this season. No, they folded. There were so many games that came out so control because one thing went wrong, the whole team simply closed. They lost their resistance and, as a result, the scores ran on them on several occasions.
Tied in the fifth largest shots against the game (29.9), the Rangers also finished the season with the quite expected goals higher by 60 (2.75).
3. Each of its six best scorers last season, Artmi Panarin, Vincent Trophack, Adam Fox, Mika Zibanejad and Alexis LaFrenière, ended with at least 10 points less.
Zibanejad may have gone from 72 points to 62, but the Swedish center touched a dramatic defensive immersion and was one of the team’s least effective skaters for a good part of the season. Fox may only experience a 12-point drop in two more games, but his two-way defense of the best roads did not score the first goal not empty until January 9, and it has not been the same since his knee injuries since 2023-24.
The most drastic fall belonged to Kreider, who registered 45 points less this season in 14 games less due to injuries and a healthy scratch. He recorded only three main assists and only seven five against five goals.
Trophack experienced an 18 -point regression, while LaFrenière went from 57 to 45 points after signing a seven -year contract extension and $ 52.15 million. The Rangers needed much more of Trophack, who did not play with the bite that caused the club to want to sign it first.
The 12 -point difference in the two -seasons of LaFrenière may not seem much, but the first selection of 2020 was the first time it disappeared after signing its extension on October 25.
Panarin was the main producer of the Rangers for a sixth consecutive season, but went from a 120 -point race to only 89.
