Two Sheriff agents were placed on administrative license after an alleged domestic incident at a Camarillo restaurant last month, the Ventura County Sheriff’s office said Wednesday.
Dylan Davis, 33, and Anthony Malagon, 27, participated in a domestic incident on March 30 in King Cantina, said the Sheriff’s office. A security guard who tried to intervene injuries suffered and was treated in a hospital.
A press release from the Sheriff’s office offered no more details.
Davis and Malagón were arrested under suspicion of serious crimes and published bail. Both are on administrative license.
Davis is expected to be accused of five battery charges of misconduct, the battery that causes serious injuries, the use of force that probably causes significant injuries, which inflict bodily injuries into a spouse and criminal threats.
Malagón faces two battery charges that cause serious injuries and the use of force that probably cause significant injuries. Both deputies must appear before the court on May 28, in accordance with the judicial records.
“I want to assure the public and our community that the Sheriff’s office takes this matter very seriously,” said Sheriff Jim Fryhoff in a statement. “We have our deputies with the highest driving standards; any violation of these standards will be adequately addressed, without hesitation … since that is what both the community and our agency expect and deserve.”
The Sheriff’s main crimes office continues an investigation into the incident. An internal investigation is also being carried out to determine whether Davis or Malagón violated the policy of the department.
It was not clear immediately how long the deputies have worked together, nor the nature of their employment relationship.
