Mariska Hargitay has maintained a family secret for more than 30 years.
At the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday, the star “Law & Order: SVU” revealed at the premiere of his documentary, “My Mom Jayne”, which his biological father is the former artist of Las Vegas Nelson Sardelli. She was raised by the late actor and bodybuilder Mickey Hargitay.

“It was as if the floor had fallen from under me,” he said in “My mother Jayne.”

Mansfield died in 1967 for wounds he suffered in a car accident. He was 34 years old. Hargitay was 3 years old and slept in the back seat of the car when he got into a truck.

The Sardelli sisters “cried and cried” when they saw a private projection of the documentary in Las Vegas, the departure revealed.
“These two women that I love so much, I made them secrets!” Hargitay said. “It’s so heartbreaking for me … I’m not good with lies. So, I also made this movie to vent all of us.”
The film also helped Hargitay address the loss of her mother.

“I don’t remember the accident,” he said. “I not only remember that my mother had died. I looked at the photos, and I really don’t remember anything until I had 5.”
Mansfield, born Vera Jayne Palmer, was an aspiring peel who spoke several languages and played against the violin and piano. A casting director suggested to whiten your hair, wear more tight dresses and Adopt a voice inspired by Marilyn Monroe. The personality of “Tonta blonde” stuck and Mansfield shot at Hollywood fame. “When I listened to that false voice, I used to turn around,” Hargitay recalled. “Why is it talking like this? That is not real.” [But] My dad always said: ‘She was like that. She was like you. She was fun and irrevable, without fear and real. “
“My Mom Jayne” premiered on May 17 at the Cannes 2025 Film Festival. It will be broadcast on June 27 in HBO and HBO Max.
