Russian drone, missile attack on Kyiv kills at least 15, including an American, and injures dozens, Ukrainian officials say

Kyiv, Ukraine – A flood of Russian missiles and a alluvion of drones in kyiv during the night on Tuesday killed at least 15 people and wounded another 75, Ukrainian president Volodyymyr Zenskyy said in x. It was one of the most mortal attacks against the Ukrainian capital in recent months.

The attacks of Russian drones in the port city of Southern Odesa also wounded 13 people, including a child, according to Oleh Kiper, the regional governor.

The head of the Military Administration of the city of kyiv, Tkachenko, said that the attack empties a nine -story residential building and destroyed apartments boxes. Emergency workers were in the place to rescue people from under the rubble.

The military administration of the city of kyiv said in a statement that “the nature of the damage is immediately seen in residential buildings. Rockets, from the upper floors to the basement.”

The attack lasted almost nine hours and is the last one of a series of mass and missile drones attacks against kyiv as The war lasted.

It happened when the world leaders gathered at the group of seven group in Canada, which Zenskyy was expected to attend. The summit extends until Tuesday.

Zenskyy said in X that Russia launched more than 440 drones and 32 missiles to Ukraine. “Kyiv has faced one of the most horrible attacks,” Zenskyy said. “Such attacks are pure terrorism,” he added.

Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko told journalists on the scene that an American citizen was killed in the attack after suffering shrapnel wounds. The explosions could be heard for hours on Tuesday night.

Thirty apartments were destroyed in a single residential block after it was beaten by a ballistic missile, Klymenko said.

“We have 27 locations that were attacked by the enemy. We currently have around 2,000 people who work there, rescuers, police, municipal and medical services,” journalists told the scene of one of the attacks.

Olena Lapyshniak, 49, was shaken from the attack that almost level her apartment building. He listened to a whistling sound and then two explosions that blew their windows and doors.

“It’s horrible, it’s afraid, there is no life in a moment,” he said. “There is no military infrastructure here, nothing here, nothing. It’s horrible when people just at night.”

People were injured in the districts of Svatoshynskyi and Solomianskyi of the city. The mayor of kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, said that fires broke out in two other districts of the city as a result of the debris fall of the drones knocked down by the Ukrainian aerial defenses.

Canada, who assumed the presidency of the G7 this year, invited Zenskyy to the summit, where he is expected to celebrate individual meetings with world leaders.

Meanwhile, Russia’s head of Security, Sergei Shoigu, arrived in North Korea on Tuesday to meet with leader Kim Jong one for the second time in less than two weeks, reported the Russian news agencies, according to the French news agency AFP. The Reuters news agency quoted the Tass news agency in Russia saying that Shoigu went to Pyongyang “with special instructions” by President Vladimir Putin.
