Steelers safety Ryan Watts to ‘discontinue playing football’ because of neck injury

He Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Monday that they were launching security Ryan WattsWhose career in football is feared due to a severe injury in the neck suffered in the last preseason.

“After consulting with our medical team, medical experts and representatives of Ryan, we all agree that it is the best for Ryan to suspend playball at this time,” said the general manager of the Steelers, Omar Khan, in a statement. “We will continue to help and support Ryan while making the transition to the next phase of his life.”

The 23 -year -old from Texas has been marginalized since he was beaten in the head by a knee at the end PittsburghThe 24-17 defeat of the preseason against Detroit on August 24. The injury was initially diagnosed as a sting, although it was considered more serious with Watts spending its entire rookie season in the injured reserve.

Watts underwent surgery in this low season, although it was not clear if he would be authorized to play.

The Steelers selected Watts in the sixth round of last year’s draft out of Texas, where he was a two -year headline after the Ohio state transfer ring.
