Pope Francis’s funeral will take place on Saturday morning at St. Peter’s Square, the Vatican announced early Tuesday.
Francis’s public visualization, 88, who died unexpectedly on Monday after suffering a stroke and heart trial, will begin as soon as Wednesday morning in the Basilica of San Pedro.
The funeral then on Saturday at 10 am local time in the Plaza de San Pedro.
Francis, known for facing the traditionalists, also deviated from some traditions in his burial plans, choosing to be buried in a simple wooden coffin in the Basilica of Santa María, on the outskirts of the Vatican.
