GETTING UP RIGHT AFTER THE PLANE LANDS FEEDS THE VIRAL DEBATE ABOUT AIR TRAVEL ETIQUETTE

Some say they consider the habit inconsiderate, while others say standing helps them stretch, retrieve their carry-on bags and prepare to disembark.

The comments section quickly filled up as travelers revealed why they stand up as soon as the seat belt sign goes off. Many insisted that it’s less about running off the plane and more about comfort and being ready to leave the plane as soon as possible.

Etiquette experts say many passengers get up early to grab their bags and be ready to leave, but they also warned that these actions turn rude when they block the aisle, push others or crowd other travelers. (iStock)

Flight attendants must handle the situation to help keep the disembarkation process orderly, Gottsman added.

Fox News Digital has reached out to Southwest Airlines for comment.

Many commenters said that standing after landing is not the problem. They argued that passengers should wait their turn and avoid getting ahead of others.
